This just in from clariece

Poway (San Diego) center closes at the end of the week. They’re referring everyone to either Oceanside (70 miles roundtrip), Mission Valley (40 miles roundtrip) or to L.A. Weight Loss online.

San Diego reports:

Another San Diego market update – All the remaining centers in the San Deigo market that did not close last month, are closing now! The centers is Chula Vista, El Cajon and Poway are closing their doors as of tonight (09-10-2008) leaving only the Mission Valley and Oceanside locations open for a week, before they close on 9-17-08. If anybody in the San Diego market reads this before those centers close tonight and you are owed any product, go get it now, if you can, and also as for your file so you can make sure your social security & credit card numbers and any other personal information don’t get dumped in the trash. Otherwise go to the Mission Valley or Oceanside centers before the 17th. Hope this news helps, and sorry for the short notice, but the news just came down the pipe an hour ago.
Funny enough, they also have a nationwide marketing campaign for a Friends & Family two for one signup scheduled for the 16th! I would not refer anyone to join in San Diego if I were you – not much value in a 24 hour program…

LA WEIGHT LOSS: Multiple Centers Close in KY

More customers at L.A. Weight Loss centers in central Kentucky are reporting closures.

We’ve learned that the Frankfort store is now closed. Members there were told to go to the two Lexington locations instead, but both of those have shut down as well.

Members say they’re concerned about how they’ll be refunded for pre-paid services…

“I went in there yesterday to do my normal weigh in, and the door was locked; the lights were off,” says Morrow.

After contacting the fitness program’s district manager, Morrow says she and other confused members were told the two Lexington L.A. Weight Loss centers were shutting down, and it was unclear how and if they would be refunded their money…

However, Morrow says she was already given some options for her time and money lost, but it didn’t include money back.

“She also suggested that maybe we take what fund we were due out in product as a trade out, but at this point, I don’t need any product, just the service promised,” says Morrow.

Morrow says she spent $2,000 on the program but credits it for helping her lose 60 pounds.

“My feelings are hurt because I had been doing so well, and I wanted to finish it,” says Morrow.

So far members tell us they haven’t received any written notice about a closure

“…Since the beginning of the year across the nation LA Weight Loss Centers have dropped a ton of weight by shedding their customers.

Including right here in Terre Haute.

“When channel 10 broadcasted over their news yesterday and the day before is when we became aware that they were closing,” Caroline Came said.

A few months ago, Caroline paid her daughter’s membership in full.

“I am just very frustrated because we have saved put money for this for her,” Came said.

So News 10 went into the L-A Weight Loss Center looking for answers.

When called, the worker said she could not comment on the closing.”

News 10 called again.

“If you have a concern and would like to speak to a customer service representative please press three,” the operator said. “Thank you for calling us today your call will be returned within “48 hours.”

It’s been 24 hours and they have not called back.
