LA WEIGHT LOSS: Employee Alleges Unethical Closing Practices

October 17, 2008 by admin

Sarah states that she was encouraged to sell long-term contracts prior to closing:
“A FEW DAYS AGO I WAS GIVEN THAT INFORMATION AS WELL. I LEFT MY POSITION AT L.A. WEIGHTLOSS 2 WEEKS AGO BECAUSE I KNEW THAT SOMETHING “FISHY” WAS GOING ON. I WAS TOLD VIA MY SUPERIOR THAT, IN NOT SO MANY WORDS, I HAD TO CONFORM TO THE RULES OR SEEK OTHER EMPLOYMENT. THE NEW “RULES” WERE TO CALL PEOPLE ALL DAY AND BASICALLY ASK THEM TO COME BACK IN AND TRY TO SELL THEM SOMETHING, ANYTHING!! IM SORRY TO SAY, BUT THAT IS NOT WHAT I WAS HIRED TO DO NOR DOES IT MAKE ME HAVE THAT “FEEL GOOD FEELING ABOUT MYSELF”…. I TOTALLY SAW WHAT WAS HAPPENING AND WAS KINDA FORCED OUT SINCE I WASN’T BEING A GOOD ROLL MODEL TO THE OTHER EMPLOYEES. ( I HAD WORKED THERE QUIT AWHILE). I UNDERSTAND THAT THE ONES STAYING OPEN ARE ONLY OFFEREING ONE TYPE OF PROGRAM THAT NEEDS TO BE PAID FOR BY C.C. AND HAS AN AUTO RE-NEW CONTRACT ON IT TO BE CHARGED EVERY 6 WEEKS… WHAT THE ????? IM NOT HAPPY ABOUT SEEING THIS COMPANY GO THROUGH THIS, BECAUSE IT IS A GREAT PROGRAM, BUT JUST THINK THAT NEW AND CURRENT CLIENTS SHOULD BE “SMART” AND DO THEIR RESEARCH PRIOR TO JOINING “ANY” KIND OF PROGRAM IN THIS BLEAK TIME.”

I was an employee for L.A. Weight Loss. Ioved the clients as well as the job, i was very dedicated and hard working which wasn’t enough because i was wrongfully and unfairly terminated.

I worked for LA Weightloss and they had a very good program but to be honest they always had very pushy practices as far as selling products. I was a manager for the uptown location in NYC. They were always very strict as far as calling customers and trying to sell them product. I loved helping people lose weight and enjoyed my clients. They had very good products but their selling technique was barbaric.

Right now people can barely afford to eat no less afford a very expensive diet program. Normally we are bombarded with Weight Watcher ads on TV. You dont see any of that or any of the other competitors. It is a sign of the times.
