The Greenville S.C. has closed on Woodruff Rd. and No. Pleasantburg Dr.
Your list should be updated to reflect these closures.
Followed the same pattern as listed on this site: reduced hours, removing
decor from the walls, pictures out of picture frames. When I asked if this was what they were doing, both laughed and said it was because of summer months.
That made alot of sense when the summer is when so many people diet.
Could someone please give me the date of the closing at Vincennes, IN??? It was closed when i went back but i need the information for the CareCredit people to dispute part of the charges.

Well, it official – a few weeks later than another poster stated, but San Diego market is officially closing the end of next week – it made the news here on Wednesday, and if you’re luck enough to reach someone at the only two stores left open here, they will tell you they are closing, but are not notifying all client who have product owed to come in and get it. The toll free customer service is also useless – they only number I’ve been able to reach anyone on is the one a poster posted here for administration office for H. Katz (owner of LA corporate) and Brian Siegel (VP) at 215-364-0400. The manager of one of the centers here said they had almost no product left to give out, and corporate was refusing to ship what was needed to settle out our accounts! How can corporate pretend to act “befuddled” as another article online refers them saying, when they are closing centers and stealing our money by plain REFUSING to give us what we paid for? If it was not too far out, I would dispute my credit card – anyone else should ASAP. We all need to call them out on this fraud – call them at 215-364-0400 – if we keep calling, we make get them to close completely or annoy them enough they will return the money they are stealing from us all.
I believe Vancouver and the Salmon Creek, Washington centers will be closing too. The Vancouver manager was recently fired (as she should have been a year ago) and the Salmon Creek manager may be asked to over see both centers. I think they are merging to close soon as they also closed another center not 20 miles north of Salmon Creek. They are showing all the same signs and red flags that you can read about all over the internet, that warn of a closure in the near future. Get out while you can. They are not a trustworthy company. I was told this morning that all Wisconsin centers are closing. When I asked about a financial refund, I was given a blank stare followed by the response that I will probably be losing my money. I had a feeling this was coming as they hours and days were continually cut and they cannot keep a staff.
The Toronto, ON Market will be closed the end of Nov (Nov 28th I believe). That will be a total of 21 centres!
LA Weight Loss Maritimes (all 9 centers) will be officially closed on December 5th. Every single LA Weight Loss will be closed by year end. Corporate is making their announcement next week, its all gone and done.
Good luck to those out some money. Be thankful you still have a job. We do not. And NO, the employees were just as in the dark about this as all of you. We were told on Monday, not a full 2 weeks before closing. The second we found out, we started to tell people.
Keep that in mind when you feel the need to yell at the poor young ones in the center. It is NOT THEIR FAULT. Sh!t happens… and we are unemployed 3 weeks before Christmas

This is a serious allegation to tell people before the holidays. Please share how high up the ladder this info came from and how reliable it is.

Are you for real? Look at all the websites across the internet. Go to ‘Rip Off’ reports also and you will find all reports including the one’s on this website at least 95% correct. Does it matter? The handwriting is on the wall. ALL LA WEIGHTLOSS centers are closing. If not in the next week, they will be soon. What’s your point.
The point is: where is this information from? Is it reliable?
If you’re an employee reading this, that’s a pretty serious question. Is this person a corporate exec or a ticked off peon just venting? WW… that’s not a fair question?
Secondly, if it’s not from a reliable source it’s dangerous to be posting it, for your own sake. Do you really think multimillion dollar companies allow people to post notices that they will be closing if they’re not?
I’m not defending the company, WW. I run a complaint site about them. I’m asking for the source of the info. Where are YOU coming from?

Guess I should cool my jets. My apologies. I am an ex-emloyee and have been sad and disenchanted with the way this company has handled all matters of business. Employee’s as well as clients have suffered in unfair ways. To me, it is obvious that the entire company is shutting down as I have followed the closures all year. Being that there are few left open, I thought it ratioal to surmise that the ultimate end is near. I have watched the patterns and red flags pointing to center after center closing and most being handled in what I judge as, unethical.
It is certainly true the angry and spiteful exemployee’s as well as clients could post lies, but the continous onslaught of complaints and closures are I believe, too massive to consider retaliation.
I predicted the closure of the center I used to work at as well as the centers around mine. I watched the red flags as they matched information I found on the net. I left for many reasons, but believed that within a year or less of leaving they too would close. They did, only 8 months after I walked away.
If anyone out there is worried about your job, I believe there is enough evidence to point the way to near unemployment. Stay with your job, but beware and know that at least you can collect un-employment should you stay to the end.
And to anyone posting FALSE information….I suggest you are as unethical as the company if you play dirty. Please…….only post honestly….

What’s a shame is that this costs people more than money… costs them the ability to trust others, and further damages already battered self esteems.
It’s easy to forget, too, that he employees stand to lose even more than the members. Last year it was Pure Weight loss that handed out pink slips for Christmas.

Being a current employee of LAWL any responses from a reliable source would be appreciated. Although none of our regional centers have closed (Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba) ..yet, it feels as though it is only a matter of time. Our center has recently discontinued the use of Care credit, and our stock orders are lacking with each order, and employees hours are being cut… with centers closing in Eastern Canada, not to forget hundreds in the US it doesn’t seem far fetched that ours are next. Any other signs to be aware of? or information?

All 21 centers in Toronto, ON have closed as of Dec 5/08 so it is not just the Maritimes in Canada that have closed. If you feel that your market may be closing, it probably is. I know that in the GTA we kept being told that ‘don’t worry, all is good’ etc but we all had a feeling. The following are the warning signs that happened in GTA as well as in other markets from what I read:
- It started with centres merging with one another (ex. The Burlington Centre merged with the Oakville centre)
- Then the staff hours were cut originally and then the centre was only open Mon, Wed and Fri’s
- We were running on only 1-2 staff members at a time
- Shipments were minimal and we were always not getting our whole orders
- Instead of the usual 52 week programs it changed to only 26 week programs, then only sell 12 week programs and then onlmy sell 4 week programs
- Care Credit option was terminated
I do not know if all the other markets will be closing but as a personal opinion, I don’t know how it is possible for the other markets to survive given the past bad press and now the current bad press about centres simply closing down with no notice and clients out a lot of $$. Also, with Head Office’s staff being cut down to 10% of what it used to be, I have heard (don’t know though) that bankruptcy is something that will be coming soon??/
I hope this helps and I hope that I am wrong and that your market will survive as I truly feel that LAWL is a great program and most of the front line staff are great as well, what is happenening is very unfortunate to both clients and staff.
A question for you…how have your centre and market sales been like over the past 6 mths? Have you noticed a dip in sales? Have you been impacted by all of the ‘wrong doings’?
This message is to the former employees of LA Weight Loss Clinics that have closed: Please contact me via email. I know there were many people affected by the abrupt closings of the LA Weight Loss Centers. Patients, employees & the franchisees. I have had many patients tell me they have been so successful on the program, but I know by experience the program is only half of component, the encouragers/motivators (you) are the other half and most important part of these successes. I have a business idea that may provide services back to the patients, a profitable business back to the franchisees and jobs back to the employees. Most people that have ever been employeed in the weight loss business LOVE what they do. And therefore are very valuable.

My center closed December 1. We haven’t received our refunds, yet. I’ve made phone calls and sent e-mails. Does anyone think I should pursue this or just give up?
Salem, Oregon location is also closed – and I’d paid through October of this year. Been awhile since I’d been back (usual “new year” slump) – guess I missed my chance. Would love to know if there’s any chance of refunds but from reading through this I’m guessing no….

Well that doesn’t help the fact that she lost her money. It sounds to me like you are just trying to promote another weight loss buisness.
I too am in the same boat as the rest who have lost their money, at least I did receive one of my rebates before the Eugene, OR shut down. Went the online route, now nothing, still send in my weight once a week but have heard nothing for quite some time and no response coming from my counselor, no matter what I ask, so will chalk it up to money down the drain.
